ANDY ARRIVAL FOR COAST

We are delighted to announce that Coast have appointed a new lead guitarist ahead of schedule. Step forward and take a bow Andy Davey!

The band had planned to take a few weeks with this appointment to make sure they got the right man but the moment Andy started playing in his audition it was obvious straight away that they didn't need to look any further.

Andy said: "Joining Coast is a massive privilege, a huge and exciting challenge. It really is wonderful music and the guys in the band are an absolute pleasure to work with. From the first rehearsal the passion and dedication of the band was obvious and that is one of my key reasons for deciding to come onboard with the project."

Andy cites his dad as his biggest influence: "My first and biggest influence has to be my father. Through him I was exposed to the amazing music of bands such as Dire Straits, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd and early Fleetwood Mac."

Andy has been a fan of Coast's music for a while now and concluded: "It's clear to me that the passion and dedication of the band is matched by the apparent army of Coast fans out there who follow the band so keenly! I'd like to say to them although I have some big shoes to fill, I can assure them that I will be giving it 100% to meet expectations and I look forward to meeting them in the near future!"

As a result of Andy's rapid appointment he will now be able to take to the stage at Coast's last gig of the year at The Railway in Winchester. Everyone at Coast would like to share their appreciation of Russ Barnes who was prepared to step in at short notice to ensure the gig went ahead. Russ will now be support act for this show. Russ - we salute you sir!

Andy is a sensational guitarist and we hope you can join us on 15th December in Winchester for his debut performance!

BELIEVE IN COAST - NEW ALBUM AND SINGLE ON THE WAY

After a busy Spring playing shows in Denmark, Germany and Scotland the guys are now back in the studio recording songs for the much anticipated 3rd album which has the working title ‘Long Way Home’.

The album is planned to be completed in time for a release date in Spring 2013.

The first single from the album is a brand new track called ‘Believe’ and this is being targeted for release in October this year. A video is being filmed to accompany the single release. With some collective help from our social networking fan base we hope to propel ‘Believe’ into the charts. Keep eyes peeled for a campaign to kick-start this soon!
More exciting news on the new album and single to follow in the not too distant future.

In other news, we’re delighted to report that the COAST song ‘Keep Loving’ receives a mention in the forthcoming book release by author Annie South. The book is called ‘A Life Worth Logging In For’ and is released on 30th August 2012. You can pre-order the book here:  http://www.annie-south.com/#!shop. We’re led to believe the book is a little ‘spicy’ in places so parental guidance recommended..!

With the guys busy beavering away on recording the new album there will be fewer gigs than usual for the rest of the year but there are a few forthcoming dates for your diary…

Saturday 11th August:  Paul Eastham and Steve Picken (both solo sets) - Talking Heads, Southampton, UK
Friday 17th August:  COAST - Talking Heads, Southampton, UK

Sunday 2nd September: COAST, Steve Picken (solo), Paul Eastham (solo), Metrognomes, AJ Denman, The Real Raj, Olly Hite,  – Talking Heads, Southampton, UK (Charity Show for COAST string player Emma Clark)
Friday 26th October: COAST - The Old Mill, Southampton, UK
More dates will be announced as they crop up.

To clear the shelves ahead of the album and single release we have just announced a ‘Summer Sale’ on the online store.  Be sure to visit the COAST website shop over the coming weeks to pick up a bargain or two. Stock is limited so “when its gone its gone!”

That’s about all for now folks. Exciting times ahead so be sure to keep an eye on the website and social media sites for more news over the coming weeks and months.

ANDREJ RUSSIAN TO PLAY THE DRUMS

COAST are delighted to announce the arrival of their new drummer...take a bow Andrej Chernjavskij!

Andrej was born in Moscow and later raised in Riga, the Latvian capital, as part of a family of actors. At the age of 15, he left the world of acting to become a musician, playing drums in the local school band.

He played in many Latvian and Russian bands over the next 10 years and raised his level to semi-professional - even playing with one of Latvia's most famous bands - Mitrokhin's Master Band.

Andrej moved to the UK in 2011 to start a new life in music, finally meeting COAST. His main musical influences include Rush, Manic Street preachers, Iron Maiden, Boston and Mr Big. Interests other than music include travelling, fantasy gaming, medieval history, fencing and boating.

Andrej's solo drumming can be viewed at http://www.youtube.com/user/GrimHawk24?blend=10&ob=5

Andrej's final audition for COAST was held in front of a packed audience at Herbie Armstrong's music venue 'The Fountain' in Hampshire on Saturday 10th December. Andrej 'played a blinder' (as they say in these 'ere parts) and duly rubber stamped his place in the COAST engine room.

On joining COAST Andrej said: "I'm happy that finally I found COAST! They are amazing people and musicians as well. They play an amazing music and I'm very proud that finally we met each other. I hope that in future we will create more songs and our favourite celtic energy, which we give to all our fans and people who like and support us. I will do as best as I can! Thank you Paul, Steve, Chris, Hamish, Iain, Martin and Celties!!! Thanx to all the fans and supporters!"
